What is farletuzumab?
Farletuzumab, also called MORAb-003, is an investigational drug made by the pharmaceutical
company Morphotek. Farletuzumab is a monoclonal antibody that targets a cell surface
protein that is believed to be important for cancer cell growth and survival. This
protein is present in large quantities in ovarian cancer cells but not in normal
cells. Farletuzumab is given as an intravenous infusion (an infusion into your vein).
At this time, farletuzumab is available only to ovarian cancer patients in clinical
research studies such as FAR-131. In this study it is given in combination with
carboplatin and taxane, both of which have been approved by regulatory agencies
as a standard of care treatment for ovarian cancer.
Thank you for your interest in the FAR-131 study. At this time we are no longer recruiting patients for this study.
